Get creative with watercolour in this workshop for beginners and those with some experience. Tania has gained a solid reputation for working with botanicals, and nature’s complex geometric shapes such as native Australian flora, 19th-century botanical studies, and learning to paint with watercolour. Join Tania in a warm and inviting introduction to ways of thinking and creating a final image and composition on paper using watercolour. The final aim is to have students thinking about being comfortable enough to paint from nature, allowing for happy accidents to create an amazing composition they will be happy with.

What to expect
Students will:
- be introduced to watercolour painting basics
- experimenting with a variety of techniques and approaches
- explore both creative abstract and figurative methods
- learn various methods and expressive ways to create images
Materials
- Bring your own found flora, favourite cactus plant or A4 print outs for reference.
- 1 Arches or Canson watercolour paper pad (185gsm or 300gsm preferred, smooth A3 preferred size size).
- Watercolour brush set (a mix of round/pointy and flat brushes). Please include small pointed brushes for delicate work. Cheap brushes are fine for this workshop.
- 2 ice cube trays (for your palette of paints).
- Watercolour set: If you already have watercolour tubes, bring what you have. If not, Tania suggests Reeves Watercolour tube set (cheap). Please bring tubes not disc/dry sets.
- 2 empty containers to hold water (max 400g).
- 2 rags/old tea towel.
- Pencil.
- Hard Eraser.
- Masking tape.
- 2 Bull Dog Clips.
