Art Est. Art School

Art Est. Art School is a dynamic creative hub for the visual arts in Leichhardt, the heart of Sydney’s inner west. Founder and Director Jennifer McNamara established Art Est in 2008 with a vision to create an art space where students of all ages and abilities can discover their artistic potential in a professional studio environment with practicing artists. Art Est has gained a reputation for providing quality tuition in a nurturing and relaxed environment.

Our Painting, Drawing, Ceramics and Pottery studios

Our spacious, light-filled warehouse is an inspiring art space featuring four teaching studios and gallery space. We have reverse cycle air-conditioning, so you can enjoy your art class in comfort year round.

Our professionally managed and purpose built pottery and ceramics studio opened in 2016. It is equipped with 8 pottery wheels (Venco), dedicated handbuilding stations, slab roller, extruder, a glaze room, kiln room and clay recycling room. We have 2 electric kilns and all firing occurs on the premises. We do not offering firing services for external ceramicists. View our ceramics and pottery classes

After school and Saturday morning art and pottery classes for school Kids (5-14 years)

School children, five years and over, can explore their creativity in our term classes. Term art classes for kids are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays after school and Saturday mornings in our Leichhardt studios. All children’s classes include materials and tuition in the term fees. View our children's art classes.

Extra curricular after school and Saturday morning art classes for High School students

High School students in years 7-9 can choose from term classes designed specifically for this age range. Term art classes are available Mondays, Wednesday and Saturdays. Materials are included in the term fees. View our art programs for teens

Students in High School years 10-12 are encouraged to attend adult classes.

School Holiday Art Programs and School Holiday Camps for children and High School Students

Art Est. Art School’s school holiday program offers creative visual art, pottery and ceramic workshops for kids 5-16 each and every school holiday.

  • Workshops are all held in our Leichhardt studios
  • Sessions are 3 hours long and run morning and afternoon (9.30am-12.30pm or 1.30pm-4.30pm).
  • Full day workshops and master classes for teens are held 10am-4pm.
  • Children can stay for half a day or a full day, or attend a range of programs over the holiday period. Lunchtime supervision is provided at no extra cost.
  • Workshop prices start from just $60 per workshop per child per workshop and this includes all art materials and tuition.
Our school holiday program provides creative workshops in drawing, painting, sculpture, clay, cartooning printmaking, pottery wheel, ceramics and more. Workshops are themed with children enjoying a fun and informative atmosphere of learning and creativity. View our school holiday program for kids.

Full day art workshops are often available for High School students who love art and want to stretch their creative skills. More.

Please note that classes are not available for children who attend preschool, pre-kindy or long day care

Daytime, Evening and Weekend Painting, Drawing, Pottery and Ceramics classes for Adults

Our diverse range of term courses, weekend workshops and the annual Summer Art School cater for all levels of artist – from beginner to advanced. Our timetable offers plenty of options for you to immerse yourself in painting, drawing, pottery or ceramics. Learn new skills and become part of our art community. Art classes are available Monday to Friday (during school hours), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and Saturday morning. Full day workshops are typically held on a Sunday. Art and Pottery classes for Families to enjoy together

Something fun and creative that kids and parents can do together. Our Family Art Classes are for adults and children in their care to attend together. Parents, aunties, uncles grandparents or other carer are welcome to attend with children. View our family art classes

Throughout the year we exhibit work by emerging artists, our Art Est. tutors as well as provide the opportunity for students to exhibit their artworks. The Gallery also features the annual WOOF Exhibition and Competition and the GreenWay Art Prize. More.
