About Portland
Location
Portland is located about 2.5 hours west of Sydney, beyond the Blue Mountains and before Mudgee. The workshop will be held in one of the refurbished buildings that form the Foundations. We will be in the back of the Annexe where there is an accessible bathroom and café and importantly plenty of room for us to spread out and draw our hearts out!! Portland is a small country town with a pub, an art supply shop, an IGA and a few other shops. As for parking, there should be plenty in Williwa Street close to the Annexe.
Accommodation
We recommend The Imperial Hotel - Bed and Breakfast 0418 214 857. This is within walking distance to the Annexe and has recently been refurbished with a range of single and shared rooms available with private and shared bathroom options. A Single Bed Room with shared bathroom is $60 per night, while a Queen Room with Private Ensuite Bathroom is $129 per night. There are also a few Air BnB's in Portland.
Catering
The café on site at The Annexe is fantastic for all refreshments. Morning tea and lunch are included both days during the workshop as part of your workshop fee.
The Foundations
Portland is also home to many artists and creative minds… In the Annexe there is a mind-blowingly great work by local artist Harrie Fasher. Link to check out more about Harrie’s arts practice and during the workshop you will have the opportunity to visit Harrie Fasher’s studio, it will be a visual feast that will last in your minds for some time to come.
