Are you yearning to explore your creative side but unsure where to begin? Look no further – this class is the perfect starting point for beginners and seasoned enthusiasts alike. Join us for an engaging 4 week journey where you'll dive into various painting mediums and drawing techniques, all in a relaxed and supportive environment.
In this hands-on course, you'll have the opportunity to experiment with different mediums, including acrylics, watercolours, and drawing. Guided by an experienced tutor, you'll learn how to create art using a wide range of materials, allowing you to find your unique creative voice.
Is this course right for me?
No prior experience is assumed or necessary. High School students in years 9 and above are welcome and encouraged to join this class.
What to expect
What to Expect:
Each week, you'll delve into practical drawing and painting techniques, covering topics such as:
- Drawing: look at composition, form, and tone as you work from observation and reference images. Experiment with various mediums, including pencil, charcoal and ink, to develop your drawing skills and style.
- Dive into the world of colour theory and art history as you draw inspiration from renowned artists and artworks. Learn techniques for using watercolours and acrylic paints to bring your creative visions to life on canvas.
Materials
Your course fee includes the use of our paints, but please bring the following supplies:
- Visual diary (A4 or A3)
- Set of drawing pencils
- Eraser
- Sharpener
Optional:
Feel free to bring any drawing or painting materials you have at home, such as acrylic paints, watercolours, paint brushes, pastels, or coloured pencils. Your tutor will guide you on their usage throughout the course, ensuring you have everything you need to unleash your creativity.
Your tutor will introduce you to other materials throughout the course and you will be advised if you need anything extra for your lessons. Canvasses can be purchased at Art Est as needed.

Our class sizes are small, ensuring you receive the individual tuition you need. We have a maximum of 12 students per class.
