Artist Statement
The visual complexity of change, following the lines of thick textural paint, not knowing where they lead or why. The act of painting is an integral part of understanding my changing world and my response to it. As a maker, I have always been motivated by how far I can push and pull paint to create a sense of catharsis. This process has become integral in my journey since suffering the devastation of losing everything in a bushfire. It has seeped into my sensibility.
Taking the paint to its limit as I work through my subconscious complexity. When I consider a painting resolved, it frequently asks another round of questions and stimulates new ideas waiting to be explored. I move on to the next canvas.
