Drawing | Diebenkorn Inspired Still-Life | 7-9 years
Using coloured pencils and soft pastels, then acrylic paint, students will make a drawing study, then an acrylic painting of interesting still life objects. Students will learn about the American artist Richard Diebenkorn and how he used complementary opposite colour harmony in his drawings and paintings. A fun way to learn about colour theory in art as you play with the colour wheel looking at opposite colours of Red/Green, Orange/Blue, Red-Orange /Turquoise , as well as colour harmony and colour contrast, colour-mixing, composition, light and dark tone, shadows and empty space will be explored in drawing and painting.
What will students take home?
Students will take home drawing studies in coloured pastel on paper and a finished canvas painting in acrylic paint.
