NEW | Bold and Textural Ceramics with Stephanie Phillips | Two-Day Workshop

This course has no current classes. Please the waiting list.

Join sculptural ceramicist Stephanie Phillips over 2 days to create an architectural style geometric sculpture or sculptural vase. Learn some great coiling method tricks along the way. Some basic experience is recommended for this workshop.

Stephanie’s ceramic work is bold, textural, architectural, and always sculptural. She playfully manipulates negative space in and around each piece, making forms that are abstract and jaunty while at the same time monumental. Texture is vital and is achieved by leaving the fired clay in its natural state or with her meticulously developed, signature sandy glaze. The forms, strong colours and surface texture interact harmoniously

What to expect

This is a two-part workshop held over two consecutive days. Your tutor, Stephanie Phillips, will help make your experience rich, rewarding and enjoyable.

Day 1 Planning, design and getting started.

Day 2 Finishing, decorating and finessing.

What will you achieve?

During this workshop, you will:

  • Create a finished sculpture or sculptural vase
  • Learn Stephanie’s professional tips and tricks for creating sculpture and hand-building with coils
  • Learn about texture and surface decoration techniques
  • Learn from the best — Stephanie is a Sydney-based artist with a passion for clay, design and architecture.

Stephanie has a background in visual merchandising and set design. Ceramics has been her main passion for the past decade. Stephanie’s gravity-defying, deceptively light hand-built sculptural works are inspired by geometry and architecture.
