Acrylic Painting | Painting Interiors One Day Weekend Workshop with Larissa Blake

Join popular tutor Larissa Blake in this dynamic acrylic painting classes where you will learn how to be more expressive and gestural in your practice and produce images with a contemporary style. Through demonstration and practice, students will gain insight into painting process, techniques, materials and expression. Larissa will demonstrate processes and guide you to complete a painting in a day. Students will work from their own images using the theme of ‘Interiors’. Bring along a selection of photos to work from – This could be a room in your house or anywhere you have a positive connection to, or somewhere that appeals to your aesthetic.

Is this course right for me?

While all levels of artist are welcome, some prior experience with acrylics is recommended to gain the most from the day these workshops. Beginners should attend a beginner one day workshop first.

Materials

Please bring the following materials to your workshop:
Some reference photographs or images. It is best to blow these up to A4 size for easier reference. This could be a room in your house or anywhere you have a positive connection to, or somewhere that appeals to your aesthetic.
Two medium size canvasses, approx 50cm (square or rectangular), wide edge
Artist quality acrylic paints (Matisse or Atelier preferred). Please note that cheap paints will give you an inferior result as they do not have the pigment or texture necessary for best colour mixing and applying to achieve a quality finish. If you are buying new paints, you will get a great palette mix with the following acrylic colours:

• White
• Black
• Ultramarine blue
• Napthol red
• Cadmium yellow (mid yellow)
• Raw Sienna
• Red Gold
• Alizarin crimson
• And if you really love a colour or already have some other paints, bring them along.

Selection of cheap bristle brushes – flat, round, large sizes.
Water spray bottle
Pad of palette paper or plastic paint palette
Rags or paper towels
Masking tape or clips
Sketch book, paper and/or visual diary
