Shannon Dwyer is a Sydney-based artist, specialising in Australian Wildlife, especially birds, with the use of watercolour and ink. Creating artworks full of energy with intricate patterns of beautiful depth, texture and character.
Art has played a huge role in Shannon’s life, drawing and painting at every opportunity – right from childhood. Having dabbled in all styles of art, both digitally and ‘traditionally’ throughout her life, her subject-matter and art-medium has changed over time – always building her experience, although once watercolours were added to her repertoire…she’s never looked back!
Shannon’s style is completely unique, capturing both the movement and personality of her subjects while leaving the viewer pondering over the story woven through each work. With an obsessive love for David Attenborough and wildlife conservation, Shannon has travelled as much of the world as possible, developing a strong connection to the richness of culture and the natural wildlife of the world – however, Australian animals are her absolute favourite and focus.
The conservation of Australia’s natural world is a huge part of what inspires her works and subject matter; showcasing her appreciation for how incredibly unique and diverse Australian flora and fauna is. She hopes to brighten people’s lives with her art and also inspire the need to be in touch with the natural world around them and, in turn, help secure its future – so much so that her original artwork Certificates of Authenticity also includes information about her subject and its current conservation status.
Her artworks are hung on walls around the world – adding little pieces of ‘Straya everywhere!
