Mara Moon
Resume
Mara is an artist who creates brightly coloured portrait and still life paintings and drawings using a variety of mediums. Driven by childlike curiosity, Mara often combines unexpected elements like collage, digital art, and thread to create pieces that are playful and texturally rich. She is inspired by the human form, architectural design, and a lifelong fascination with both textile and paper crafts.
In addition to her own artmaking practice, Mara is also passionate about helping young people to develop their artistic voices. She has been a high school visual art teacher since 2016, and is also an individual tutor and HSC marker. Mara’s teaching focuses on progress over perfection, and in fostering an inclusive environment where students can develop specific skills in order to authentically express themselves.
Mara has a Masters of Teaching from UNSW, and is working towards completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts through Curtin University.
