Sandra’s art practice begins with walks along the GreenWay collecting found materials while gleefully spotting the local birdlife. In her home-studio, she mixes handmade imagery of the everyday alongside a candy all-sorts of street throw-outs to form playful, temporary and environmentally focused installations.
As a winner of the GreenWay Art Prize in 2013, numerous local art activities have followed since, including works created for Art on the GreenWay. Sandra has participated regularly worldwide for exhibitions, collaborative projects and residences with a favourite completed in 2021 at Georges River Council’s unique cottage situated in the heart of Carss Bush Park, Sydney. A highlight this year was exhibiting the Celestial Rocks installation, a commissioned piece by Placemaking NSW in collaboration with SLOT Window Gallery held at The Rocks /Tallowoladah.
Her artist books, prints and paintings have been acquired for private and public collections at Manly Library; Portland’s Glenelg Shire Council; USA’s Pittsburg University; the State Library of NSW; the National Library of Australia, Print Council of Australia and Artspace at the Gunnery.
