Serena Geddes
Resume
Serena Geddes is an international children’s book author and illustrator. With over 50 titles spanning 11 years, her diverse illustration style captures her audience, both young and old, through the use of emotion and humour. She draws on her illustrations to capture the imagination of her readers encouraging reluctant readers by providing visual insight into her stories, building relations between images and text.
As a traditional artist Serena worked for Walt Disney Studios for six years learning the fundamentals of illustration and animation with a group of talented artist on sequels to The Lion King, Peter Pan Return to Neverland, Lady and the Tramp and Jungle Book. Disney offered an intense 3-month training period as an entry level In-betweener and is where I gained most of my skills.
Serena works both traditionally and digitally, though she prefers using traditional methods when illustrating books with pencil, ink and watercolours which is what she teaches at Art Est.
Her first author illustrated picture book, Rosie and Rasmus, was released in 2019 published by Simon & Schuster USA and I am now excited to share the latest book, Where the Dragons Live, launching September 2020!
The ongoing highlight of her career is sharing her knowledge and experience with children through the art of creating. Her workshops are fun, creative and suit all skill levels.
