Visual Art Classes for Teenagers and High School Students

We are often asked about art classes for High School students who would like to participate in extracurricular art classes. We recommend teens and young adults in year 9 and above try our adult art classes. During term time we have a range of evening art classes, as well as a Saturday painting classes that may fit your busy timetable.

Our regular one day weekend workshops also offer a great opportunity for young people to spend a day immersed in art. On this page we have highlighted the art classes that are most popular for teens. If you feel your child is not ready for an adult class, we also have some great classes after school and on Saturdays that might be more suitable. These include:

Drawing and Painting Fundamentals (11-14 years) with Janis Clarke on Mondays from 4-6pm or Kassandra Bossell on Tuesdays from 4-6pm
Developing your Creativity (11-14 years) on Saturday mornings from 9.30-11.30am

During the holidays we use air drying clay and these sculptures are not kiln fired. Please bring a shoebox or similar to assist transporting sculptures home. Once home, they will dry naturally but don’t pop them in direct sunlight or in front of a heater as they will dry out too quickly.

Sculpture | Paper Lanterns | 10-13 years

Be inspired by Chinese and Korean Lantern festivals and create your own gorgeous lantern using cane and paper. Learn how to create a lantern structure using bamboo and cane then cover your lantern with tissue paper.
