Anthony Brink
Resume
Anthony Brink holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Vocational Education.
Anthony’s initial training was as a mould maker servicing both manufacturing industry and the movement of ‘new’ ceramics. After this period he completed three years as working assistant to the ceramic sculptor Frederic Chepeaux. This was followed by a three year apprenticeship with the artist potter Gwyn Hanssen Pigott. His training in the pottery studio was then augmented as a production thrower in Errol Barnes' Lyrebird Ridge Pottery.
Now, with 40 years of continuous experience in ceramic art and design, Anthony produces work for sale, exhibition and commission from his workshop – Anthony Brink Pottery – located in Blackheath, NSW. In addition, he has taught over many years in Higher education, Vocational Education and Training, and Adult Community Education sectors.
"As a teacher, my focus is crucially upon facilitating the application of technique and the acquisition of skill. This is informed and integrated with consideration of history, technology, case studies and contemporary theory, not as tutorial subject matter as such, but as a kind of seasoning – just the right amount – to inform and develop practice in the field.
My aim and aspiration is to work with and guide learners in the discovery of their own pathways, their own unique expression in a visual language of form. And to do so in a safe, inclusive, enjoyable and inspiring community of practice. "
