Matilda Michell

Matilda Michell combines classical still life oil painting with a contemporary twist. Her work is built on a lifelong love of classical painting where she pursues the fine craftmanship, stillness and exquisite sense of balance created by the classical masters while bringing her own contemporary slant to it.
Matilda graduated from the National Art School in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in painting. Since graduating, she was the overall winner in the Waterhouse Art Prize and has been a finalist in many other prestigious art awards including the Eutick Memorial Still life Award, the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Awards and the AME Bale Art Prize.
Matilda also has a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Media Arts and Production, and a Bachelor of International Studies from UTS.
