Masterclass | Watercolour | Big Eyes | Pop Art Surrealism | Teens

Outline:

Discover the unique style of Margaret Keane and other contemporary artists who use exaggerated features, particularly the large, emotional eyes, to create cute and creepy characters. This class will introduce students to the Lowbrow Pop Surrealism art genre and tis signature cartoon and doll-like figure. Through a series of exercises, students will practice drawing the form with a fun cartoonish twist, while learning about composition, colour theory and watercolour illustration techniques. Join us and bring your imagination to life with Big-Eye Art!

What will students take home?

You will leave with a series of studies working in this genre and at least one high-quality watercolour big-eye portrait.

School Holiday Information

To ensure our students have a great time with us over the school holidays, we ask parents and guardians to please take note of the following:

• Students should bring a drink and a healthy nut-free morning or afternoon tea snack and their waterbottle.
• Please sign your child in and out 10 minutes before/after their session.
• Ensure your child is wearing appropriate clothing for a potentially messy art class.
• If your child has any allergies, medical issues or special needs, please make it known to us at the time of booking. Any medications must be clearly marked with your child’s name, photo ID and action plan.
• If your child is staying for two sessions (morning and afternoon), Art Est provides a supervised lunchtime break and will ensure children are safely escorted between buildings where necessary. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch and a hat and sunscreen. If weather permits, they may be taken to a nearby park during the lunchtime break.

About our studio classes

Our class sizes are small, ensuring all students receive the individual tuition they need. We have a maximum of 12 students per class. For kids and teen classes, art materials are included in the fee. To learn about our studios, kitchen facilities and how to get there, click here.
