Using inspiration from Japanese comic books, students will look at the ‘chibi’ style of drawing, in which the characters have small bodies, and oversized head/eyes/hair. Students will explore character creation, inventing their own style of character using watercolours and black markers to emulate the strong graphic ‘manga comic’ style. The aim of this lesson is to free the student's imagination and give them the skills they need to make art they can be proud of.
What will students take home?
Their very own cartooning sketchbook filled with drawings and plenty more pages to continue at home.
