Printmaking Workshop | Collograph, Chine-Colle and more with Andy Totman

This one-day workshop will focus on the printmaking process covering collograph on heavy card with found objects. Andrew will lead the class in a variety of ways to create an additive intaglio plate with glue, papers and found objects such as flowers feathers, and leaves. You will also learn mark-making methods using both traditional and inventive tools. Each student will be introduced to how to develop an image and how to select the best method to create a small folio of prints
This is the third of a series of three printmaking workshops with master printmaker Andrew Totman. You can sign up for one workshop or attend all three to build on each session and achieve a very fulfilling folio of prints.
What to expect
Students can expect to learn how to:
- ink the plate as a single monochrome or with alla pupe colour additions.
- safely work with an etching press
- ink and roll up a collograph printing plate
- use a variety of objects to add tones and textures in the plates
- to create a split and or rainbow roll
- select best paper for the process
- mix and use printmaking inks
- do precise registration and multiple plate printing
Is this course right for me?
This workshop is suitable for all levels of artists for beginners to more experienced. There are no prerequisites or assumed knowledge for this course.

Materials
Printmaking inks, tools, and rollers will be supplied for use in this workshop.
Please bring the following materials:
Materials - essential
- Lead pencil, ruler, eraser, scissors, notebook/paper, small container of PVA glue
- Disposable gloves
- Cartridge paper
- Paper - 2 x sheets of cotton paper for printing eg Arches or BFK Rives 280gsm
- Different grades of sandpaper
- A few soft rags (t-shirt material is perfect)
- A variety of leaves, flowers or feathers (gum leaves work well)
