Finally, some holiday or weekend creative fun for parents# and kids to enjoy together. A fun and informative 3 hours to learn and practice the 3 fundamental steps of using the pottery wheel : PREPARING you clay, CENTERING your clay on the wheel and SHAPING your clay to form a vessel. About our Kids + Families Art Classes

Our family art classes are designed to inspire families to explore their creativity, make art and have fun together. These classes are for adults and children in their care to attend together. Parents, aunties, uncles grandparents or other carer are welcome to attend with children. Each person attending, whether a child or an adult, will need to be enrolled and pay the class fee. Children over 10 years are also welcome to enrol without a parent.

What to expect

In this workshop, students will:

  • be introduced to the principles of making ceramics on a pottery wheel
  • learn the fundamental techniques of wheel throwing including centring and shaping
  • practise throwing simple cylinders

What should I wear and what should I bring?

Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you are relaxed about getting clay on. We recommend comfortable pants/trousers as you’ll sit close to the wheel as you throw.
Each participant should bring an apron, an old hand towel and a sponge.
Please remove jewellery, watches, any long necklaces or scarves and tie back long hair.

Will my vessels be fired?

Bisque firing is included the fee for 2-3 vessels per person. You will need to return to collect these (we will let you know then).
We do offer glaze firing sessions. This is an additional fee. (Glazing is the final (optional) stage that creates a hard/waterproof surface on your vessel).

This course has no current classes. Please the waiting list.
