Course overview:

Have fun learning about sculpture and ceramics as you make some creative artworks in clay. Through structured activities and projects students will develop whole range of clay hand building techniques to make some fun sculptures and functional ceramics. Students build their skills and confidence week by week in a fun and creative space and learn about working with clay and glazing techniques. Activities are age appropriate and structured around hands on practice of foundation skills, creativity and experimentation. Students will complete several projects across the term. Some artworks will be kiln fired and glazed.

What to expect

  • learn different hand-building techniques such as slab, coiling and moulds
  • make functional vessels and sculptures
  • practice decorating and glazing techniques
  • make several pieces to fire and take home

Note that this class focusses on clay handbuilding, students will not use the pottery wheel. 

Is this class right for my child?

This class is aimed at children in years 2-4 at primary school. There is no assumed knowledge

Materials

Materials and the firing of several pieces are include in the course fee.

About our studio classes
