Online | Close the Door and Draw | Expressive Drawing Course with Jody Graham

An exciting expressive online drawing course to keep you occupied and engaged while refining your drawing skills. This new program that will be delivered via the Zoom Art Room is designed to make the most of being indoors, utilizing what you already have at home. Be inspired every week with classes that activate exhilarating ways to see and be creative with the wealth of material you already own. Your kitchen can become your art store, your bathroom a temporary studio. Use this confinement period to hone your drawing skills and discover new ways to interpret your environment.

Term 2 outline

Week 1 – Let’s draw each other
Week 2 – Who is at the door?
Week 3 – Housebound
Week 4 – What’s for Dinner, Not That Again!
Week 5 – Looking out the window
Week 6 – The lone Chair
Week 7 – Drawing a body part from a dynamic vantage point.
Week 8 – A positive consequence the confinement period has had on your life.

Term 3 outline:

An engaging, expressive drawing course that comes to you in the comfort of your own home. Save precious time, energy and money packing and travelling to class and join lessons that make the most of the online experience. Be inspired weekly, with ideas and concepts that activate your passion to draw and create. This program will keep you absorbed and help you refine your drawing skills as you discover new creative ways to interpret your environment. There is an optional WhatsApp group connected with this course to share your artwork and cultivate online connections with other art students.

Week 4 – Still life – changing viewpoint
Week 5 – Looking out the window

Is this course right for me?

*Continuing students will have the option to expand on concepts and materials in weekly projects. For intermediate and advanced students.

Materials

You will need paper to draw on, pencils, pens, brushes, any art material you already have around the house, masking tape, good imagination and time!

The following list is a guide from Jody’s in-studio classes. But really, the aim is to use whatever you have at home and Jody will suggest new and interesting things to draw with each week.

A3 or A2 cartridge drawing pad or for better quality paper Canson 220gsm or similar
Black or Sepia ink – Suggest Art Spectrum 50ml
2B or 4B and a charcoal pencils
Sharpening knife – Stanley knife & pencil sharpener
Some sticks of compressed charcoal – For example - 'General’s' brand available from art supply stores, or Faber Castell compressed pit soft charcoal
Hard eraser – Recommend Sennelier giant soap eraser
A roll of paper towel
2 x large bull dog clips
Masking tape

For Term 3, our regular classes will return to studio based learning. Some classes will be online in our Virtual Zoom Art Room. The venue is listed with the class details so please check this before enrolling.

For studio based classes, extra measures are in place for your health and well being.
