Learn to Make a Teapot on the Pottery Wheel

Course overview

This workshop runs over 2 mornings (3 hours each) and is for students who have prior wheel throwing experience who would like to learn how to make a teapot on the pottery wheel. Students will practice throwing their forms for their teapots, then learn how to approach making and attaching spouts, handles and lids. The skills learned in this workshop can be applied to a range of pottery projects.

Is this course right for me?

This course assumes students have experience using the pottery wheel and are confident preparing, centering and shaping clay.

Materials and firing

Included in the course fee is

  • enough clay to make a teapot
  • use of our clay tools (or bring your own if you wish)
  • bisque firing of the finished teapot. Kiln firing occurs on our premises and we will let you know when your work is ready for collection.

Glazing is not included. This is an additional fee ($20) and can book into one of our many glaze sessions to complete this part of your project if you wish.

What to bring

Please bring along an apron, a sponge and your clay tools if you wish.
