Learn to Make a Sake Set on the Pottery Wheel

Course overview

This workshop runs over 2 mornings (3 hours each) and is for students who have prior wheel throwing experience who would like make a 5 piece Sake set on the pottery wheel (4 Sake cups + Sake bottle). Students will be encouraged to thinks about functional design as well as decorative aesthetics for their Sake set. Students will practice throwing and shaping their forms to achieve consistency in their cup sizes and shapes, plus learn how to form and shape the neck and spout of their Sake bottle.

Is this course right for me?

This course assumes students have experience using the pottery wheel and are confident preparing, centering and shaping clay.

Materials and firing

Included in the course fee is

  • enough clay to make your 5 piece Sake set
  • use of our clay tools (or bring your own if you wish)
  • bisque firing of the finished teapot. Kiln firing occurs on our premises and we will let you know when your work is ready for collection.
  • Glazing is not included in the course fee. You enrol in one of our many glazing sessions for attend one of our many glazing sessions for an additional fee of $20 to complete this part of your project if you wish.

What to bring

Please bring along an apron, a sponge and your clay tools if you wish.
