Drawing Bootcamp with Matilda Michell

This two day intensive drawing workshop focuses predominantly on convincing rendering of form, mass, and fall of light as applied to a range of still life and figure subjects.

What to expect

Day 1 will focus on still life and will discuss compositional principles, creating a focus point in a resolved drawing, dealing with soft and hard edges, rendering form convincingly and understanding the fall of light.

Day 2 will focus on figure and portrait drawing, developing the use of simple mass conceptions to provide strategies for tackling difficult poses and angles in the human figure. Students will learn shading strategies for rendering complex forms and will explore the use of colour in figure drawing using the ‘trois crayon’ method.
