Course overview

Continuing on from our First Course: Introduction to Illustration, this NEW course Intermediate Illustration will lead you into cementing and developing your style, medium and bring your own subjects to life!

The course will push the individuals style utilizing certain image making exercises. The student will have the freedom to choose their own mediums which will lead to the final exploration of the subject they wish to individually explore.

By the end of the course the student will walk away with a strong understanding of their own approach to creating a confident and solid Illustration.

Students will:

• Further Material Exploration to the various types of ink, pen, watercolour, gouache and
mixed media.
• Aim to start thinking about what the final media will be: fabric design, art, wall paper, pillow cases etc…..
• Explore and learn about their favorite types of illustration
• Experimenting with different techniques and approaches.
• Explore and create abstract and figurative methods.
• Learn various methods of expressive ways to create images.
• Develop a series of singular compositions to more developed complicated pieces.
• A variety of exercises will be learnt to access and propel the students own style and illustration
• Discuss, Explore and create a variety of ways of creating a final composition.
• learn to critique work positively

Is this course right for me?

Suitable for those with prior illustration experience who would like to learn the art of illustration. Not for beginners

Materials

Material required:
The first week, the student will bring their own medium and paper stock that they wish to explore with.
A must is: Pencil, Erasers, Tape, Artline Pen, Water colour quick cheap Sketch pad, A nice quality watercolour paper (Canson/Arches). 2 A2 size watercolour paper 185GSM or more. rags/old tea towel. Brushes. Jars or painting trays.

A list each week will be supplied at the end of each class for a reminder the next lesson.

From 1 June, some classes will return to studio based learning. Other classes will continue to be delivered online in our Virtual Zoom Art Room. The venue is listed with the class details.

If you are joining a Zoom Art Room class, you will need the following:

• A desktop, laptop, tablet or ios or android smartphone
• An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
• Speakers, microphone and webcam (wireless or inbuilt)
• Download the free version of Zoom to your device
• Check and test everything before you enrol, and double check the day before your class
