Fundamentals of Drawing with Jackson Davies

This workshop is perfect for those who want to learn the basics of drawing. It is also suitable for students who wish to develop their current drawing skills. During the workshop students will work from life and photographs. These drawing exercises will explore two fundamentals: line and tone. Jackson will also discuss materials and techniques to help you draw with confidence. The workshop is conducted in a relaxed and friendly environment and students are encouraged to ask as many questions as they like.
What will you achieve
- Produce two finished drawings, a graphite still life as well as a charcoal portrait.
- Learn about drawing techniques and how to apply them
Is this course right for me?
This is a friendly, relaxing workshop designed to breakdown drawing accessible stages for beginners. If you have ever been interested in learning drawing but don’t know where to start, this workshop is the perfect introduction and is ideal for anyone eager to establish a strong artistic base from which to grow and develop their skills.
Material List
Art materials will be supplied for this introductory workshop. If you want to use your own materials bring them along and your tutor can advise.
Please bring the following:
- Graphite pencils at least 2b, HB, 2H (bring any that you already have)\
- Sharpener or utility knife
- Willow charcoal
- Compressed charcoal
- Kneadable eraser
- Standard/plastic eraser
- Several sheets of large cartridge paper or large sketch book. *at least A3, larger scales are more effective for these drawing exercises. Please don’t be intimated by large scale paper- it makes the drawing easier!
- Bull dog clips.
- Rag/paper towel
