Cut + Paste Creative Collage Mixed Media Workshop | Kassandra Bossell

Course overview

An enjoyable day to explore creative collage, mixed media, printing and drawing. Students will work with layers of coloured paper, magazine collage and ink drawing to produce a finely textured composition. Look at the work of historical artists such as Dadaist Hannah Hoch, Matisse, John Stezaker, Robert Rauchenberg as well as contemporary artists like Deborah Kelly using collage to create visually dynamic images.

What to expect

The first part of the workshop learn monoprinting techniques to create a simple composition to be used as a background.
Students will then work on their collage imagery. Under the guidance of the tutor consider design and composition elements required to create a cohesive and dynamic image.
Pen and ink may then be interwoven and superimposed over the other mediums to create added complexity.

We will have a range of images available to use, but you may wish to bring along collage elements you have been saving for a special project.
