Ceramic Vases or Decorative Planters with Kara Pryor

Course Overview

Have fun playing with clay and learn fundamental clay hand building methods to make a functional vase or decorative planter. Add your own design using sgraffito surface decorating techniques to add colour and personality to your contemporary ceramic ware. On the first day you will make your vessel and the next day you will learn ways to add creative surface decoration to make your individual ceramic artworks. The vessels you make will be glaze fired so they will be functional to use as a vase, water jug or planter.

Is this course right for me?

Suitable for anyone – no experience necessary.


All materials and kiln firing is included in the workshop fee.

Students should bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting clay on. Also bring along any ideas for designs you may have or use our inspiration.

Maximum of 12 students in all our classes Our class sizes are small, ensuring you receive the individual tuition you need.
