Ceramics | Contemporary Ceramic Homewares with David Edmonds
This course has no current classes. Please the waiting list.
In this fun hand-building class you will create and decorate a series of functional contemporary homeware pieces, of your choice, in our new 'on trend' speckled clay. No experience necessary, as you will be shown various clay hand building techniques including coiling and slab techniques to construct your work. Draw some patterns or create texture in your design and add colour and personality using underglazes ready for firing in our kilns. Every object will be unique and once glaze fired ,at future date ,will be ready for everyday use.
Make an individual table set of serving plates/platters or coffee beakers. Bring your inspiration.
What to expect
This is a two part workshop held over consecutive days. Your tutor, David Edmonds , is here to make your experience easy and fun.
Day 1: 10am-2pm: Handbuild your clay work and leave overnight to dry.
Day 2: 10am-12noon: Finish your work to a professional standard, add surface decoration and colour to your pieces using underglazes supplied , ready for firing in the kiln.
Your ceramics will be left to dry further before bisque firing. We will then apply a clear glaze for second firing and will get in touch to let you know when it is ready to collect. (approx 3 weeks after your workshop.)
