Course overview

Does your child have have a passion for storytelling and a love of graphic and illustrated novels like Last Kids on Earth, Nimona, Ms Marvel or Graveyard? Then this new course with popular tutor and professional comic writer and illustrator Sam McNair is for you! The aim of “Words and Pictures” is to ignite the imaginations of young and aspiring authors and illustrators. Students will delve into their imaginations, collaborate and also take inspiration from top selling teen illustrated novels such as Last Kids on Earth, Nimona, The Graveyard, Ms Marvel, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

What to expect

Over the term students will:

Learn to produce stories with pictures.
Focus on presentation and quality.
Learn fundamental narrative and story telling skills

Class activities are are structured to stimulate students, build individual writing and illustration skills, enhance social confidence. Sam’s classes always include games and activities that create a fun and productive learning environment.

The class is best suited at students in Year 5 at Primary School through to Year 9 at High School

About our children’s art classes

Our children’s art classes are designed to suit all abilities and there is no assumed knowledge. The activities are age appropriate, there is no grading, just fun and informative lessons to stretch imaginations and learn new skills.

Maximum of 12 students in all our classes, this ensures an optimal learning environment. Term classes for children are suitable for new and continuing students, each term your tutor will have new activities to enjoy.
