Watercolour | Painting Birds One Day workshop | Susie Murphie

Course Overview

In this class learn about painting the shapes, textures and colours of a whole range of birds using watercolours,. Please along your favourite photos for reference or use Susie’s reference material. In Susie’s classes, students learn tips and tricks for keeping watercolours transparent and beautiful. This method will give you the essential techniques to tackle all sorts of subjects with confidence. You will come away with a feeling of wonder and addiction to this extraordinary watery paint and be confident that you can tackle anything. Students will work from reference photos.

Is this course right for me

While all levels of artist are welcome, some prior experience with watercolours is recommended. Students should have at least attended a beginner watercolour workshop with Jane or Susie.

I am a big fan of Susie Murphie’s style of working with watercolours and she has been a big influence on my own work. Even though I am an experienced artist myself I always learn something from her workshops.

Materials list

The fee for this summer art school class includes use of our watercolour paints and papers. Please bring the following additional items:

  • Pencil 2B
  • Old tea towel or hand towel or paper towels
  • Masking tape or clips

Maximum of 12 students in all our classes Our class sizes are small, ensuring you receive the individual tuition you need.
