Oil Painting | Alla Prima Still Life Painting with Matilda Michell

Course overview

Alla prima painting (painting done in one go) has a unique freshness and directness, emphasising the spontaneity of the brushwork and a broad rendering of the subject. In this class we will learn how to plan for an effective alla prima still life painting; from planning and lighting the initial composition, making a decision about a suitable ground colour, planning and preparing a palette and working methods for working wet in wet without getting muddy colours. Students will complete one still life painting in oils.

This is a great follow on to the Oil Painting Essentials workshop, for beginners or those with prior experience who would like to improve their painting.
