Acrylic Painting | Bright Impressions Still Life and Fruit | Mignon Parker

Course overview

Popular painting tutor Mignon Parker is well known for her fun and informative classes. In this workshop you will use acrylic paints, mixed media and maybe some collage to create a bright and colourful still life of flowers and fruit. Through demonstration and practice, students will learn learn to keep marks fresh and bold, and take home a finished painting on canvas ready to hang!

Is this course right for me?

This course is suitable for all levels, including enthusiastic beginners


For this workshop you have the option to bring your own materials (listed below) or use Art Est. equipment for a flat fee.

Bringing your own materials, bring the following

  • 1 x stretched canvas (around 18 inch x 24 inch ) primed and ready to paint
  • Your acrylic brushes (synthetic or hog hair, include some flat ends)
  • Disposable palette (plastic plates, white china plate or pad of palette paper)
  • Some clean soft cotton rags
  • sketch or cartridge paper for experiments
  • notebook and pencil
  • Acrylic paints. Please bring good artist quality paints. Cheaper paints do not achieve a good result. We recommend Matisse Derivan paints. The following are suggested minimum colours to bring: Titanium White, Mars Black, Phthalo Blue (a cool blue), Ultramarine Blue (a warm blue), Yellow Light Hansa (a cool yellow), Yellow Deep (a warm yellow), Matisse Lt Red (a warm yellow), Brilliant Alizarin (Crim) (a cool red), burnt sienna. Bring with you any other colours you like to use.
  • Acrylic paint medium if you have it.

Pre-pay a materials fee of $30 to Art Est. includes the following

  • 1 x stretched canvas for you to take home
  • Use of our acrylic brushes , palettes, acrylic paints and mediums

You will still need to bring:

  • Some clean soft cotton rags
  • sketch or cartridge paper for experiments
  • notebook and pencil
