Drew painting

Through a series of fun exercises, children will explore and develop their skills in painting as well as sculpture. Painting activities will explore tone, colour and more. Sculpture will include assemblage, clay and lots more!.  Lessons will be a mix of theory with practical exercises in painting and sculpture, referencing famous artist and artworks.

Ceramics

Finally, a class where you are supposed to get your hands dirty! A great introduction to the world of three dimensions in clay. Come and learn the basic construction techniques including pinch, coil, slab and modelling. You can make just about anything with a few alterations when you know how. You will learn how to create great sculptures and with a focus on Monsters and Mythical Beasts, you'll get to exercise your imagination too. (Note the fee includes a surcharge for firing clay sculptures).

Fun with Painting

The aim of this course is or have fun, use your flair, and fully immerse yourself in learning new ways to make art.

This first term has a theme of 'House and Home', and with a focus on painting, drawing and collage, students will develop a broad range of art making techniques that will help them understand space and volume, size, shape, tone and linework.

We will introduce simple concepts that will broaden, not limit, their unique and raw creativity. Students will be encouraged to bring in objects from the home, start a visual art diary, and develop the beginnings of their artist practice.

With Kieth tutoring this class throughout the year, students will gain an understanding of concepts in art through a range of creative, technical and other exercises that are fun and engaging.

This is the first of a four term program on Architec-tive that focusses on the House and Home as a vehicle for art making and learning. Subsequent terms will explore acrylic and watercolour painting, monotype and collagraph printmaking, sculpture and more.

Carl Warner Face

This is a delicious new course that where you'll discover art through the theme of food. From drawing to painting and collage, students will do some fun activities using charcoal, pencil, oil pastels, watercolours, acrylics, etc. Activities will making fun pictures from still life of your favourite foods. We'll do printmaking (lino or monotype) of yummy fruit and vegetables, and paint a delicious picture on a canvas.

Throughout the term, we'll look at the work of artists who use food in their art - from the quirky such as Arcimboldo and Carl Warner (picture right), to the serious such as Cezanne. We'll then make our own artworks inspired by their art.

This is the first of a four term program that uses the theme of food for art making and learning. Subsequent terms will explore sculpture, installation, intaglio printmaking and more fun activities.

Food in Art

This is a delicious new course that incorporates the theme of food in art. From food styling and photography, to still life drawing and painting students will create a body of work using charcoal, pencil, oil pastels, acrylic, watercolours etc. Activities will include setting up your own still life, and looking through viewfinders to select abstracted compositions. We will explore printmaking (lino or monotype) using fruit and vegetables as subject matter, and painting a still life on a canvas.

Throughout the term, we'll look at the work of artists who use food in their practice such as Arcimboldo, Cezanne, Carl Warner and others, and use their artworks as inspiration for activities in class. As part of our discovery, students will discuss food through television (Masterchef), healthy eating (Zumbo and Willy Wonka), nutrition, and global issues, and there will be plenty of scope for student backgrounds and cultural food customs.

With Alana tutoring this class throughout the year, students will gain an understanding of concepts in art through an exploration of creative, technical and other exercises that are fun and engaging.
