| Pochoir Painting - FULLY BOOKED | ||
Course code: |
12JA014 |
Retro Coffee by Julie Hickson |
Pochoir is another word for fine art stencilling - which was so called in the 'art nouveau' period in France as a way to reproduce colour illustration and was a technique used by Matisse in some of his 'Jazz' series work and also by Australian artist Margaret Preston especially in her later work like 'rock lilies'. In this two day workshop Julie will help you to design, cut and produce a pochoir print on paper and teach the basic principles required to further explore this technique. Pochoir printing is fine art stenciling and the design process is central to the success of the image as the stencil physically needs to hold together to work. Most images can be used to inspire a pochoir design - from a photograph to a drawing or even a painting. Julie will help you to translate your image into a pochoir print which can be made into a short edition of your own. |
