Term 1 Art for Young Artists

Let your kids discover art while having fun! Children learn about famous artists, are introduced to art history and art genres and enjoy exploring their creativity in our Art Est. term classes.

Our kids art classes are suitable for new and continuing students, as they enjoy new art projects and themes each term that teach new skills and expand their creativity in new directions.

Students in Years 10-12 can also extend their senior school and HSC art practise by joining any of our adult classes and receive 10% off adult course fees.

If you enrol two or more children from the same family in any term art classes, you will also receive a 10% discount on fees for the second child.

This class is great for young artists who are keen to expand their knowledge of different mediums and techniques through an exploration of painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking. Students work with a variety of art materials creating aesthetic art works from a vast array of subjects. Creativity and imagination are considered and encouraged in a constructive atmosphere. Through discussion of a new artist each class, students will build their skills and confidence in a range of art styles in a fun learning environment.

A new course at Art Est. that supports students doing HSC Visual Artworks in a variety of mediums or those students who seek to develop a portfolio of work for their application into tertiary art studies.

This course will explore a variety of mediums and art forms, beginning with essential skills in drawing and colour, form, tone and composition. Students will learn the fundamental principles of art and create a portfolio of work.

Your tutor will advise you with technical and practical issues regarding your individual artworks and presentation of your portfolio as required.

A class for primary students who wish to explore all aspects of the art room in a fun way. Special attention is given to creative activities based upon a wide range of two- and three-dimensional projects. Painting, sculpture, collage and drawing techniques are all taught and students look at the artwork of important artists as inspiration for a creating their own art projects.

This course is designed to increase students fundamental skills in drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Through the use of different media, including charcoal, various painting mediums and clay, students will gain a greater knowledge of different techniques and artists throughout history.

This course is suitable for students in Year 7 and above, and no previous art experience is necessary as the class is constantly being tailored to suit the needs of the group.

Small class sizes ensure each student receives individual attention and creative support.

A class for younger children who just love art and wish to develop their skills in a fun learning environment. Want to learn the art of cartoon characters and Japanese manga? In this class you can learn the essential elements of cartooning using a range of mediums such as pencils, coloured pens and ink. Throughout the eight week course you will improve your skills in both cartooning and manga drawing, based on various famous cartoon characters and comic strips.

Fundamentals of Art is a program for children who wish to develop their art skills in a fun learning environment. This course incorporates the study of famous artworks, artists and genres as a basis for exercises.

Each class will include a classical drawing exercise to build foundation drawing skills in tone, form, perspective and composition.  Class projects include various processes such as drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. Students will spend 2 weeks of the term working on a self directed project.
