Paint Your Pet Workshop

Holiday Art Workshops at Art Est.

Our pre-Christmas school holiday art program offers a fantastic range of exciting new art activities to keep kids creatively entertained. Choose from a Christmas themed workshop, something to make an Impression, or an undercover art heist!

Each art activity is a 3 hour workshop from 10.00am-1.00pm or 2.00pm-5.00pm with classes structured for different age groups. There's even some classes for parents and children to do together!

Each workshop is $50 per person, including materials and everyone takes home a complete artwork. If you would like to book in for two courses on the one day, children are welcome to bring their lunch and will be supervised during the break.

'Mix and Match' at least five sessions between one or more children to receive a 10% discount!

Make your own Christmas cards from scratch! Using a variety of media and techniques, you'll construct and design your own set of cards with matching envelopes. Using paint, pencils, pens, collage, and more you can create individual cards for Christmas or any occasion! Armed with paper, a pair of scissors, some glue and imagination you'll be amazed with what you can achieve!

Discover the traditional technique of Batik and create a unique artwork. Batik is a traditional fabric dyeing process that uses a technique called wax resist.

Using wax and fabric dyes you will create a colourful and practical artwork on a calico bag that makes a perfect Santa sack, library bag, shoe bag, shopping bag or even a beach bag. Make a fabulous Christmas present for someone, or keep it for yourself.

We will focus on composition, colour-blending techniques, drawing and creating different effects using the wax. Students will be introduced to the art of different cultures to inspire and enthuse.

Print out your favourite digital photographs and bring them into class. Angie will show you how to create hilarious portraits of your friends or family with huge heads and little bodies.

We’ll cut up your images using a big mouth from one image and little eyes from another. We’ll even extend your cut-out photographed hair into outer space using basic collage techniques of shrinking and exaggeration. You best mate will look like a freaky alien by the time we’ve finished!. To create that feeling of perspective we’ll paint a background to stick your character on to. It could be another planet or the school playground. Your imagination is key!

Whether you’re funky or punky or just love junk alight here for a sparkling lesson in turning small discarded objects into fantastic Jewellery.

Make a brooch, a necklace or a bracelet or all three in a matching set from lego, cotton reels, playing cards, old toy cars, little soldiers, board game pieces, mini dolls heads and any other old junk you want. Come and rummage through our recycling box and pick what you need. Stick it, sow it, ravel it and hang it. Remember Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfield were among the first famous designers to recycle trash. Now it’s your turn!

In this workshop you will do painting, drawing and collage using acrylics, pen, glitter, ribbon, to make an artwork on canvas. Your design could include pictures or words from your favourite Christmas carols. Everyone will create a very festive artwork that will make a unique gift or decoration.

Create beautiful cards, bookmarks and placemats printed on an etching press. This is a practical printmaking class for children which introduces a variety of simple, safe and effective techniques.

You can design a colourful Christmas bookmark or placemat we can laminate ready to use or give to someone special as a Christmas gift. And because they're all made on an etching press, you can print one for yourself and one to give away!

Have you ever tried to create a character as a shadow using your hands, such as a barking dog or a flying bird? This is a bit like shadow puppetry. Shadow puppets are easy to make and are one of the most fun ways to bring a story to life in a performance. Inspired by the tradition of shadow puppetry you will create your own characters and create a story together with other students. Put your character in front of an illuminated backdrop to create an illusion of moving images. All you need is lots of imagination.
