About the Artist
Sarah Drury is a graphic designer and artist living and working in Summer Hill. She has a close association with Art Est. both as a graphic designer (Sarah designed the Art Est. website) and a studio artist. She loves life drawing and organises a monthly life drawing sketch club at Art Est. She often is heard complaining that she doesn't get into the studio nearly as often as she would like to!
Penny McKeown studied Textile Design at R.M.I.T. in Melbourne (1980 – 1982) and worked in the industry as a printed furnishings designer. I always loved to draw so went back to study in 2007 at the National Art School, Darlinghurst completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in sculpture.
Sally Mowbray studied painting in London at Chelsea College of Art (Painting BA Ist class honours) and the Royal College of Art (MA Painting). After graduating she was involved in the organision of an artist-run studio and gallery space. Since returning to Sydney she has been teaching, painting and developing new work. Sally is also one of Art Est's painting and drawing tutors.
Kaye Shumack studied painting and photography at Sydney College of the Arts, and has exhibited in local, regional and international contexts. With her background in digital media production and design, Kaye lectures at the University of Western Sydney in visual communication design. In her Art Est studio Kaye is currently developing paintings that aim to represent emotional and affective spaces of the everyday, as still life, interiors and landscapes.
Lisa Woolfe studied drawing, painting and printmaking at Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney Gallery School Meadowbank (Dip Fine Arts), College of Fine Arts, UNSW (BFA). She regularly exhibits her work in group exhibitions and competitions in Sydney. Lisa's main interest is the landscape and her current project is a folio of large scale etchings and drawings based on her wanderings through the Manly Dam catchment area. Lisa is also one of Art Est's painting and drawing tutors. As all artists need a steady income, Lisa can also be found helping out in the Art Est. office occasionally.
